Keeping it out now Keeping it in Let it all begin Thinking about Thinking it through Well it's just me and you And I don't know if I'd call this love It's something I'm not so very sure of So I don't know if I'd call it at all Sure that it's right now Sure that it's wrong Put it all into these songs Feel the trust And feel the pain Then let it happen again And I don't know if I'd call this love It's something I'm not so very sure of So I don't know if I'll call it I don't know if I'll call it I don't know if I'll call it at all

Shine 04:12
You think big thoughts I waste my time Still you think anything can shine You move ahead I fall behind Still you think anything can shine Do you think that it still can shine, shine, shine? Let it go It's too far to fall You can't have it all You'd run when you wouldn't crawl Let it go Now I'm surprised to find that you're gone You say you love me I play a game Still you think anything can shine Enough is enough I am to blame Still you think anything can shine Do you think that it still can shine, shine, shine? Let it go It's too far to fall You can't have it all You'd run when you wouldn't crawl Let it go Now I'm surprised to find that you're gone There's only a fire if you let it burn Still you think anything can shine You knew the truth I had to learn Still you think anything can shine Do you think that it still can shine, shine, shine? Don't let it go I'll take the fall Try for it all I'll run, I'll walk, I'll crawl, I'll beg Don't let it go 'Cause I don't want to find that you're gone Yeah

No one says a word as I turn to leave The kinder ones amongst you say "He made himself naive. He did this to himself. He led himself astray" I wouldn't want it any other way I wouldn't want it any other way Tell me things but do I understand This house was surely built on slowly shifting sand And the reasons you should love me are the things I'll never say I wouldn't want it any other way I wouldn't want it any other way 'Cause up in the sky I'm a real rocket man You tell Elton John, I'll do what I can Playing tricks with gravity They're so afraid that I'll hit the ground They've got it wrong it's the other way around I understand the things that they won't see When you look up you'll think I'm very small And you'll be so afraid that I might fall If that's the price to pay then that's the price I'll pay I wouldn't want it any other way I wouldn't want it any other way There's always sun that shines above the clouds The wind that's in my ears is always loud So I won't have to hear the things you have to say I wouldn't want it any other way I wouldn't want it any other way 'Cause up in the sky I'm a real rocket man You tell Elton John I'll do what I can Playing tricks with gravity They're so afraid that I'll hit the ground They've got it wrong it's the other way around I understand the things that they won't see You always loved the fool up on the hill But I can do one better than him still If it's distance that you're after then that's the game we'll play I wouldn't want it any other way I wouldn't want it any other way

Telephone rings It's a long distance line Electricity over a wire A strangely clear voice Plays tricks with the miles Tries to make that distance a liar But I'm standing in public There's no private in public So the words that I use aren't quite right A certain reminder that all wishes aren't granted There's no way I'll hold her tonight A year to the day is marked by the presence of a letter that says it’s from you I'll read it one time and I'll read it two to be certain what I read is true The words on the page do their best to do justice To the thoughts that reflect what you feel And I'll give them credit as their magic they work To make something so distant so real All the calls that she'll make on that long distance line All of the letters she'll write are certain reminder that all wishes aren't granted There's no way I'll hold her tonight There's no way I'll hold her tonight

Hush hush darling Some things change some stay the same Can I even try to explain? Wheels turn round and round If you jump up you come back down Well hush hush darlin' Some things start and some things end Can I even try to defend Wheels turn round and round If you jump up you come back down Memphis: I don't care how deep you sound You talking about wheels spinning round round round People jumping up and down You're hurting me I can't believe you'd even try to get me to believe just one more lie when all I do is cry and cry You're hurting me Your words mean nothing Not to me And your words are empty You don't see You don't see You don't see Well hush hush darlin' Nothing's good when something's bad Did we ever know just what we had? Oh, what we had

Just one cricket singing out her song Don't fear the night, the moon will come along Reliable, keeping her own pace Can't believe I ever found this place So many nights I'd wish upon the first star that I'd see Tonight I'm thinking just a little bit that the stars are wishing on me Five behind, fifty out ahead Have a little faith that's what the good book said You're gonna feel the pressure, you know you're gonna make the grace Can't believe we ever found this place So many nights I would wish upon the first star that I'd see Tonight I'm thinking just a little bit the stars are wishing They're wishing on me So many wishes for the stars to grant on any night What made them finally say "I guess that this would be all right" Once upon a time you may lose Once upon this time is ours to choose Give a little kiss A little kiss for luck just in case Can't believe we ever found this place So many nights I would wish upon the first star that I'd see Tonight I'm thinking just a little bit that the stars are wishing stars are wishing stars are wishing on me

about

It's the difference between a portrait and a snapshot. Sometimes you put on your Sunday best, get your hair just right, and smile for take after take. Other times you point the Instamatic, yell "Smile!" and grab a grainy memory. This project is a snapshot. It's pretty close to what you would have heard that evening at the coffeehouse—including airplanes, espresso machines, and tuning problems. But it also captures, at least for me, what all this is really about—getting to play music with and for people I truly enjoy. So, grab a cup of coffee or a good book, put these songs on in the background, and see if you can find yourself somewhere in the picture.
